This course is tailored for passionate students and is designed to resonate with enthusiasts of electronic music genres like Deep House, Techno, House, Afro House, Melodic Techno, Tech House and more. Please note, our focus is on underground dance music heard in iconic scenes like Yacht Week Croatia, Tulum, Ibiza and more, rather than mainstream radio hits. While the concepts are transferable, our examples predominantly center around this music.

What you’ll learn

  • Identify and set up essential DJ hardware and software, including CDJs, turntables, mixers, and industry-standard platforms like Rekordbox and Traktor.
  • The fundamental theory of electronic music, including tempo, key, bars, and song structure, to understand exactly how tracks are built.
  • Develop the critical skill of manual beatmatching by ear, allowing you to synchronize tracks perfectly without relying on the sync button.
  • Execute your first transition to mix two tracks seamlessly.

Requirements

  • A passion for electronic music (House, Techno, etc.).
  • No prior DJ experience is required—this is a Level 1 course.
  • Recommended: Access to a basic DJ setup (Controller and Laptop) to follow along with the practice exercises, though you can learn the theory without it.
